Risk and Issue Dashboard
Risk Issue Dashboard with Power BI
The Risk Issue Dashboard project at Versich demonstrates how Power BI can revolutionize the way project and risk management teams handle data. Organizations often face challenges in identifying high risk areas early, tracking overdue issues across departments, and measuring how quickly risks are being resolved. This project was designed to address those challenges by providing a comprehensive suite of two interactive dashboards Risk Overview and Issue Tracking that bring clarity to every aspect of risk and issue management.
Key Features of the Project
- Risk Trend Over Time: Monitor daily risk volume from January 2025 to May 2025 using a line chart to identify periods of elevated risk activity and detect patterns that require early intervention before they escalate into critical issues.
- Risk Level Distribution: Analyze the overall split of 1,200 total risks across three severity levels Low (43.83%), High (28.75%), and Medium (27.42%) to understand where the organization's exposure is concentrated and prioritize resolution accordingly.
- Risks by Department: Compare risk counts across IT, Operations, Support, QA, and Finance departments, broken down by risk level (High, Medium, Low), to identify which teams carry the highest risk burden and need additional governance support.
- Impact vs Probability Scatter Chart: Visualize each risk plotted against its average impact score and average probability score, colour coded by risk level, to quickly identify high impact and high probability risks that demand immediate attention.
- High Risk Open Issues: Track the highest scoring open issues by risk score including Task 1007, Task 1030, Task 177, Task 298, Task 311, Task 371, Task 682, and Task 882 enabling risk owners to focus resolution efforts on the most critical items first.
- Overdue Issues by Department: Identify which departments have the most overdue issues across IT, QA, Support, Operations, and Finance, so management can direct resources and escalate unresolved items before they impact project delivery.
- Issue Detail Table: Drill into individual issue records showing Project Name, Task Name, Risk Description, Assigned To, Issue Status (Open, Closed, In Progress), and Due Date across projects including CRM Tool, ERP System, Mobile App, Analytics Platform, and ECommerce.
- Issue Status Distribution: View the overall issue resolution breakdown Closed (49.75%), In Progress (30.5%), and Open (19.75%) with a donut chart that gives leadership an instant view of resolution health across the entire issue backlog.
Operational Benefits
Traditional risk reporting often involves manual processes and fragmented data sources. With Power BI, Versich integrates multiple datasets into a unified view, reducing reporting cycles and improving accuracy. Executives, analysts, and customer service teams can now work from a single source of truth, ensuring consistency across the organization.
Strategic Advantages
Beyond operational efficiency, the Risk Issue Dashboard project supports long term strategic planning. Risk managers and project leads can use the dashboards to:
- Evaluate existing risk exposure across departments and identify areas that are consistently generating high severity risks.
- Design better risk mitigation strategies that address high impact and high probability items before they affect delivery.
- Forecast resolution timelines and prepare escalation plans for overdue issues that are approaching critical deadlines
- Improve issue closure rates and strengthen risk governance reporting across all active projects.
Security and Compliance
With sensitive risk and issue data at stake, security is paramount. Versich ensures that dashboards are built with role based access controls, row level security, and audit trails. This provides confidence that data is protected while remaining accessible to authorized users. Compliance with data governance frameworks is embedded into the design, reducing risk and ensuring peace of mind.
Real-World Impact
One organization using this project reported a 40% reduction in reporting cycle time and a significant improvement in high risk issue detection speed. Risk management teams also improved efficiency as managers gained real time visibility into department level overdue issues and resolution rate trends across all active projects. These outcomes highlight the tangible value of combining Power BI with Versich's expertise.
