Filtering NetSuite Search Results

When utilizing search result filters, the following keyboard shortcuts can enhance your efficiency:

  • Use the Tab key to cycle through the filters.

  • Employ the Down/Up Arrow keys to navigate up or down within a filter dropdown and make a selection.

Note: When inputting a value into a filter field, pressing Enter will not apply the filter. Instead, utilize the Tab key to confirm the value.

Inline editing of lists enables quick record updates by directly modifying data in a record’s row on the list page. This feature streamlines the editing process, allowing you to bypass entering each record individually. However, addresses cannot be updated on list pages through inline editing.

Note: Some columns featuring the edit icon may have specific values that cannot be changed using inline editing due to validation rules. For instance, a formula custom field that refers to another record field will restrict editing of the referenced field directly.

To utilize inline list editing:

Step 1 - Enable Features: Navigate to Setup > Company > Enable Features. Then, check the Inline Editing box found on the Company subtab within the Data Management section and click Save.

Step 2 - Activate Inline Editing: While in list views in NetSuite, employ the Edit toggle at the page’s top to turn inline editing on or off. Ensure the Edit checkbox is checked at the top (indicated by a green checkmark). When enabled, the list page refreshes to showcase an edit icon in the header of each column containing editable fields.

Step 3 - Enter/Edit Data: Click on the field where you wish to enter or modify data and use the following keystrokes for faster navigation:

  • Press Alt+X to access the first editable field on the page.

  • Use Tab to navigate right.

  • Use Shift+Tab to navigate left.

  • Press Enter to move down.

  • Press Shift+Enter to move up.

  • Use Ctrl+Z to undo a change.

  • Use Ctrl+Shift+Z to redo a previously reversed field value.

  • Press Esc to save changes and exit the field.

  • To modify the same field across multiple records, hold Ctrl while selecting the fields you wish to amend.

Changes will automatically save to the record once you click outside the field.

The Useful Ctrl+F

Even though this relies on your browser’s standard page search feature, it’s vital to highlight, as our own NetSuite Consultants and Developers utilize it frequently!

  • Press CTRL+F to bring up a finder bar, enabling you to search all visible text on the current page.

Bear in mind that the browser can only search the text displayed on the page. So, ensure all relevant page data is visible by expanding any subtabs or adjusting displayed list results before initiating a search.
