This guide explains how to streamline the navigation menu on a SuiteCommerce site without removing subcategories or commerce categories.
One of our clients requested a reduction in the size of the navigation bar in their SuiteCommerce web store without removing the subcategories from the associated commerce categories. Below are the detailed steps we used to assist this client.
Modify SuiteCommerce Navigation Menu Levels
Step 1: Access the Configuration Record by navigating to Commerce > Website List > Configuration. (Highlighted in orange in the image above)
Step 2: Choose the site and domain, then select the Integrations Tab and the Categories subtab. You will notice a text box labeled “Category Navigation Menu Level Deepness” indicating a value of “3.” (Highlighted in green in the image above)
Step 3: Change this field's value to “1.” This setting dictates that only the first level of commerce categories will be displayed in the store.
Step 4:Save the Configuration Record and submit a cache invalidation request for the site.
Step 5: Lastly, perform a hard refresh (Ctrl + Shift + R) on your web store; the navigation menu should now only reflect the designated levels.
Organizing Commerce Categories on a SuiteCommerce Site
A useful feature in this subtab is that you can effortlessly sort how commerce categories appear on your website.
Using the “Menu > Sort By” dropdown (highlighted in teal in the first screenshot), you can arrange your commerce categories according to the fields found in the commerce category records. By default, these categories are sorted by sequence number.
