Learn How to Effectively Utilize SuiteCommerce

As your software, services, or tech enterprise grows, organizing customer transactions becomes crucial. SuiteCommerce stands out due to its adaptability in accessing ERP data specific to clients and its ability to adjust to your business needs.

For software or services firms, the quoting tool can be one of SuiteCommerce's most valuable features. It minimizes the manual workload for your sales team by enabling customers to select the products or services they want in their tailored quotes. Customers can submit their quotes for review, allowing your sales representatives to confirm the pricing. Once the price is verified, clients can check the details in "My Account" before finalizing the purchase. If an agreement is necessary, you can include this as an agreement bundle, which also allows for deposit collection!

With SuiteCommerce, the opportunities are limitless!

Creating a Quote in SuiteCommerce

You might not have realized how positively SuiteCommerce can influence software, services, and high-tech firms. One of its standout features for businesses in software, online education, or services is the "Add to Quote" capability within SuiteCommerce.

How Does the Quoting Function Work in SuiteCommerce?

By clicking “Request a Quote,” users can add items to their quote request, including standard inventory, kits, and services, and leave a message for their Sales Representative. After submission, users get a summary of their Quote Request, but they cannot click on the “View and Place Order " button until their Sales Rep has approved the Quote.

Within NetSuite, Sales Representatives will see a new line item for the submitted Quote Request under Transactions > Sales > Prepare Estimates. While reviewing this Estimate Record, they can modify the pricing of each item in the Quote (particularly useful for services without fixed prices) and apply discounts and shipping details. They can also communicate a message to the Customer and choose how to share the updated Quote (via My Account, email, etc.). Customers will see the revised quote in My Account and can either make a purchase through the usual checkout process or get in touch with their Sales Rep for further discussions.

Next Steps

Now that you understand SuiteCommerce and see how it excels compared to other major platforms, it's time to dig deeper. If you have a go-live time frame of under 8 weeks, it's essential to act swiftly.

  • Connect with your SuiteCommerce implementation partner.

  • Explore readily available themes or have your partner create a custom one.

  • If you have a NetSuite Account Manager, get in touch (we can assist with this, too).

  • Assign a team member (preferably from marketing) to be the primary point of contact.

  • Begin requirement meetings with your implementation partner. This process should take no more than 3-4 hours to identify your workflows and necessary customizations. The aim is to pinpoint any non-standard or complex changes required for your site.

  • Set a go-live date after determining the time needed for any customizations. A SuiteCommerce Advanced site typically requires 150-250 hours for implementation, barring extensive changes.

  • Secure a domain name (e.g., www.yourwebstore.com or wholesale.yourwebstore.com).

  • Schedule regular status meetings with your implementation partner's project lead (1-2 times weekly).

  • Go-Live.

  • Focus on post-go-live projects, which may include search engine optimization (SEO) or continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Consider partnering with an accounting expert specializing in e-commerce.
