Background - The Client Challenge

The client is a manufacturer of fishing equipment headquartered in Texas, USA, with facilities in China and Korea. With over $500M in sales and revenue, the business needed a clearer way to understand how revenue moved across segments, sales teams, warehouse activity, fulfillment status, and invoicing.

The client already used NetSuite as a core system, but the reporting experience did not give leadership one practical view of what was committed, picked, packed, fulfilled, and invoiced. Finance needed reliable month-to-date and year-to-date reporting. Sales leadership needed sales rep attribution. Operations needed visibility into where orders sat in the fulfillment lifecycle.

  • Revenue reporting required too much manual checking across orders, fulfillment activity, invoices, and exports.
  • The client could see invoiced sales, but did not have a clean view of revenue sitting at committed, picked, packed, and fulfilled stages.
  • Leadership needed reporting by segment so they could review performance without mixing every product line into one flat report.
  • Sales reporting needed proper sales rep attribution so revenue could be reviewed against the right people and teams.
  • Users needed flexible filters for period, status, segment, customer, and sales rep instead of relying on one-off saved searches.
  • Reports needed to be exportable as PDF or Excel so finance and leadership could share, review, and archive results easily.

To solve this, we built a NetSuite Suitelet Revenue Projection Report. The solution gave the client a NetSuite-native reporting workspace for revenue visibility, sales order lifecycle tracking, MTD and YTD analysis, and export-ready management reporting.

Our Solution - What Versich Built

We built a custom Suitelet report inside NetSuite. The report brings together sales order, fulfillment, invoice, segment, and sales rep information so users can review the revenue lifecycle from one screen. The goal was not to create another disconnected reporting tool. The goal was to make NetSuite reporting more useful for the teams already working in NetSuite every day.

NetSuite Suitelet Reporting Workspace

NetSuite Suitelet Reporting Workspace

  • The report is built as a Suitelet, so users can open and run it directly from NetSuite.
  • SuiteScript and SuiteQL are used to pull the right transaction, line, customer, segment, and sales rep data into one report.
  • The report supports different client segments, giving users the option to review segment-level revenue or broader consolidated reporting.
  • Users can run month-to-date and year-to-date views without rebuilding saved searches or exporting raw data first.

Order Lifecycle Reporting

Order Lifecycle Reporting

The report was designed around the actual order lifecycle. Instead of only showing invoiced revenue, it shows where sales value sits before it becomes an invoice. This gives finance, sales, and operations a clearer view of expected revenue movement.

  • Committed orders: revenue value tied to orders that are committed but not yet fully processed.
  • Picked orders: revenue value that has moved into warehouse picking activity.
  • Packed orders: revenue value that has progressed into packed status.
  • Fulfilled orders: revenue value that has been fulfilled but may not yet be fully invoiced.
  • Invoiced orders: revenue value that has reached invoice stage and can be reviewed as completed sales activity.

Sales Reporting Filters and Exports

Sales Reporting Filters and Exports

  • Sales rep attribution allows leadership to review revenue by the responsible sales rep.
  • Report filters allow users to narrow results by segment, status, date range, month, year, customer, and other reporting dimensions.
  • MTD and YTD logic gives finance and leadership period views that are easier to use during monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • PDF export makes the report suitable for leadership review, meeting packs, and audit documentation.
  • Excel export gives users the ability to perform additional analysis without manually rebuilding the dataset.

How the Report Works

The user starts by selecting the report filters. The Suitelet then calculates revenue values across the order lifecycle and returns a structured report that can be reviewed on screen or exported. The report is practical for daily operational review and also detailed enough for finance reporting.

Step 1 Filter the Report

Step 1 Filter the Report

  • Users select the reporting period, including MTD, YTD, specific months, or selected date ranges.
  • Users can filter by segment, order status, customer, and sales rep to focus the report on a specific business question.
  • The report makes it easier to compare open order value, fulfilled value, and invoiced value without jumping between multiple NetSuite pages.

Step 2 Calculate Revenue by Lifecycle Stage

Step 2 Calculate Revenue by Lifecycle Stage

  • The Suitelet calculates values for committed, picked, packed, fulfilled, and invoiced orders.
  • The report presents the values in a single output so users can see where revenue is currently sitting.
  • This gives finance a better way to understand upcoming revenue and gives operations a better view of fulfillment movement.

Step 3 Export and Share

Step 3 Export and Share

  • Users can export the report as PDF for meetings, leadership updates, and audit support.
  • Users can export the report as Excel when they need deeper analysis, reconciliations, or additional filtering outside NetSuite.
  • This reduced the dependency on manual report assembly and made reporting easier to repeat each month.

Business Impact

One Revenue View Across Finance, Sales, and Operations

One Revenue View Across Finance, Sales, and Operations

The client moved from disconnected reporting to one NetSuite-native report that shows committed, picked, packed, fulfilled, and invoiced revenue. Finance, sales, and operations can now review the same revenue picture instead of working from separate extracts.

Better MTD and YTD Revenue Reporting

Better MTD and YTD Revenue Reporting

Month-to-date and year-to-date reporting became easier for the finance and leadership teams. Users can review period performance without manually preparing multiple saved searches or spreadsheets first.

Improved Visibility Into Fulfillment Progress

Improved Visibility Into Fulfillment Progress

Because the report shows each order stage, the client can see where revenue is sitting before it becomes invoiced sales. This helps highlight fulfillment delays, open order backlogs, and areas where warehouse activity may need attention.

Sales Rep Attribution and Accountability

Sales Rep Attribution and Accountability

Sales leadership can review report results by sales rep attribution. This gives the business a cleaner way to understand who owns the revenue activity and how open, fulfilled, and invoiced value is distributed across sales teams.

Exportable Reporting for Leadership and Finance

The PDF and Excel export options make the report easy to share. Leadership can use PDF outputs for review packs, while finance and analysts can use Excel exports for reconciliations and deeper analysis.
