SuitePromotions Set for Auto-Application Aren't Working in NetSuite

suitepromotions set for auto-application aren't working in netsuite

This guide explains how to address the issue when "This Promotion Can Be Automatically Applied" is set to "true" but fails to auto-apply to sales orders or cash sales in NetSuite.

Understanding the SuitePromotions Issue

When the promotion marked with "This Promotion Can Be Automatically Applied" is set to "true," it may not automatically apply to NetSuite sales orders or cash sales within the user interface. Each eligible item on the order also needs to qualify for the promotion.

Enabling Automatic Promotions in NetSuite

In the sales order and cash sale sections of NetSuite, ensure that the field Automatically Apply Promotions is set to "true."

This field can be manually checked for each transaction record or set as a default value to be “checked.”

Note: Logic for the best offer will apply to figure out which promotion gets applied when the Automatically Apply Promotions box is checked.

Setting the Automatically Apply Promotions Field as Default

To set this box by default for all transactions, navigate to Customization > Forms > Transaction Forms and modify the forms where you wish for promotions to apply automatically.

In the Screen Fields tab, head to the Promotions subtab, locate the Automatically apply promotions field, and set the Check Box Default field to “Checked.”

Click Save.

Now, any promotions that this transaction qualifies for and are designated to apply automatically will be applied to the order.

Note: With BOGO promotions, the second item will be added for free when it automatically applies. To trigger a BOGO offer, include your item with a quantity of 1; if you enter 2, the BOGO will be activated, resulting in a total of 3 items in your transaction (4 if the promotion is designed to stack incrementally, as explained below).

Applying Promotions to Each Eligible Item in NetSuite

For instance, if a customer purchases either item A or item B, they will receive item C at no cost. If they buy 1 of A and 1 of B, then 2 of item C should be added for free to their order.

To ensure the promotion applies to every eligible item on a transaction, make sure the Repeat Discount Incrementally checkbox on the promotion record is checked.

The count of the free item should reflect the number of qualifying items present in the order.
