Background The Client Challenge

Our client manufactures and distributes natural wellness and herbal supplement products across Europe, selling into retail chains, pharmacies, and online health stores in 12 countries. Its supply chain runs end-to-end from sourcing and cultivating raw ingredients through manufacturing, quality control, and delivery making it a complex, multi-department operation to manage day to day.

Despite strong revenue growth, the company had no way to see across its own operation. Commercial, production, and quality data each lived in a different system, with nothing tying them together:

  • Sales and finance ran through an ERP and a separate accounting package; customer relationships sat in a CRM; day-to-day production and sourcing spanned a supply chain platform and a manufacturing execution system five systems, zero integration between them
  • Department heads worked in isolation from one another sales had no visibility into what production could realistically deliver, and production had no early signal of shifting customer demand
  • There was no way to check actual results against targets, across departments or over time
  • Every report meant manually pulling exports from multiple systems by hand slow, and prone to error
  • Any new report request had to go through IT, since there was no self-service option for department heads

The company partnered with Versich to deliver a full-scale Power BI business intelligence solution integrating all data sources into a centralised cloud data warehouse and delivering department-specific reports and dashboards for every area of the business.

Our Solution

Requirements and Architecture

Requirements and Architecture

  • Ran workshops across sales, production, procurement, quality, logistics, and finance to capture what each department actually needed visibility into
  • Assessed all five existing systems for data quality and integration readiness
  • Prioritized 25+ must-have reports for initial delivery, with a longer-term analytics roadmap behind them
  • Designed a three-tier Azure architecture ingestion, central warehousing, and reporting sized for the company's growth plans

Data Warehouse and Integration

Data Warehouse and Integration

  • Stood up an Azure SQL Server warehouse as the company's single source of truth for company-wide data
  • Built Azure Data Factory pipelines to extract, clean, and load data from all five source systems on a recurring schedule
  • Added validation checks at every stage of the pipeline to catch errors before they reached the warehouse
  • Locked down the platform with credential management and access controls spanning both commercial and manufacturing data

Reporting and Adoption

Reporting and Adoption

  • Delivered 25+ report templates spanning sales, production, procurement, quality, resourcing, logistics, and finance
  • Built drill-down into every report, letting managers move from a company-wide view down to a single batch, product, region, or customer
  • Connected both Power BI Desktop and the Power BI service to the warehouse, supporting scheduled distribution as well as ad-hoc self-service
  • Scoped each department's access so teams see only the data relevant to their function
  • Wrote usage guides covering navigation, filtering, and exports, and ran hands-on training for department heads, analysts, and IT staff
  • Tracked usage in the months following go-live to flag what needed refining, and handed over full documentation so the company's internal IT team could maintain and extend the platform on its own

Versich understood our finance workflows from day one. They built dashboards that connected directly to our ERP and gave our leadership team real-time visibility into cash flow, margins, and budget vs actuals. The quality of the work and the speed of delivery were both outstanding

Before Versich, our reporting was scattered across spreadsheets with no single source of truth. They built us a Power BI environment that connects our warehouse, finance, and sales data in one place. Our operations team now makes decisions in hours instead of days
