Background The Client Challenge

Our client is a European manufacturer and distributor of natural wellness and herbal supplement products, supplying retail chains, pharmacies, and online health stores across 12 countries. With a vertically integrated supply chain from raw material sourcing and cultivation through to manufacturing, quality control, and customer delivery the company manages a complex, data-intensive operation spanning multiple business functions.

Despite strong revenue growth, the company had no centralized analytics capability. Data from sales, production, procurement, quality control, and logistics was stored across five separate systems an ERP, a CRM, a supply chain management platform, a manufacturing execution system, and standalone accounting software with no integration between them. This created serious visibility gaps across the business:

  • No unified view of the full product life cycle from raw material procurement and plant cultivation through to finished goods dispatch and customer delivery
  • Department heads operated in silos sales had no visibility into production schedules; production had no real-time view of customer demand trends
  • Internal benchmarking was impossible the company could not compare actual performance against targets across departments or time periods
  • Reports were compiled manually by pulling exports from multiple systems a time-consuming process prone to errors and inconsistencies
  • No self-service analytics every report request required IT involvement, slowing down decision-making across all levels of management

The company partnered with Versich to deliver a full-scale Power BI business intelligence solution integrating all data sources into a centralised cloud data warehouse and delivering department-specific reports and dashboards for every area of the business.

Our Solution

Versich assigned a business analyst, a solution architect, and two senior BI developers to the engagement. The project was structured in four phases from requirements gathering and architecture design through to report development, user training, and go-live.

Requirements Gathering & Architecture Design

Requirements Gathering & Architecture Design

  • Conducted structured workshops with stakeholders across sales, production, procurement, quality management, logistics, and finance to document reporting requirements for each department
  • Reviewed all five existing source systems ERP, CRM, supply chain management, manufacturing execution, and accounting software to assess data structure, quality, and integration readiness
  • Defined short-term reporting priorities (25+ must-have reports) and a long-term analytics roadmap aligned to the company's growth plans
  • Designed a cloud-based three-layer BI architecture data ingestion, centralised warehousing, and reporting built on the Microsoft Azure stack for scalability, security, and performance

Cloud Data Warehouse Build

Cloud Data Warehouse Build

  • Built a centralised Azure SQL Server cloud data warehouse as the single source of truth for all company-wide data
  • Configured ETL pipelines via Azure Data Factory to extract, cleanse, transform, and load data from all five source systems on a scheduled basis
  • Applied data validation and quality checks at every pipeline stage to ensure accuracy and consistency of integrated data
  • Implemented Azure Key Vault and Azure Active Directory for secure credential management and role based access control protecting sensitive commercial and manufacturing data from unauthorised access

Power BI Report & Dashboard Development

Power BI Report & Dashboard Development

  • Delivered 25+ department-specific Power BI report templates covering sales performance, production output, procurement and raw material tracking, product quality management, resource utilisation, logistics, and financial reporting
  • Each report features drill-down capability enabling managers to navigate from company-wide summary views down to individual product, batch, region, or customer-level detail
  • Sales reports include revenue vs. target tracking, customer segmentation analysis, and regional performance comparisons across all 12 markets
  • Production and quality dashboards display batch yield rates, defect trends, and compliance metrics giving quality managers real-time visibility into manufacturing performance
  • Connected Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service to the centralised data warehouse enabling both scheduled report distribution and ad-hoc self-service analysis for all departments
  • Applied role-based report access via Azure Active Directory ensuring each department sees only the data relevant to their function

User Adoption & Knowledge Transfer

User Adoption & Knowledge Transfer

  • Created comprehensive user guides for each report set covering navigation, filtering, drill-down, and export functionality published on the company's internal intranet for easy access
  • Delivered hands-on training sessions for department heads, analysts, and IT administrators across all business areas
  • Established a feedback loop continuously monitoring user engagement and report usage in the first months post go-live to identify areas for refinement
  • Documented the full solution architecture and ETL pipeline configuration to support the client's internal IT team in maintaining and extending the platform independently

Versich understood our finance workflows from day one. They built dashboards that connected directly to our ERP and gave our leadership team real-time visibility into cash flow, margins, and budget vs actuals. The quality of the work and the speed of delivery were both outstanding

Before Versich, our reporting was scattered across spreadsheets with no single source of truth. They built us a Power BI environment that connects our warehouse, finance, and sales data in one place. Our operations team now makes decisions in hours instead of days
